Current PDFandDOC product limitations

This page summarizes the current PDFandDOC tool boundaries, including which tasks run in your browser and which use Secure Cloud processing. It describes current product behavior only and does not add capabilities that a tool does not actually provide.

Current limitations

  • Encrypted or password-protected PDFs are not supported and fail closed without a password or decryption workflow.
  • Image to Word provides browser-local OCR for supported images and editable DOCX output. PDF to Text extracts an existing PDF text layer only. OCR PDF / Make Searchable PDF is a distinct Secure Cloud workflow.
  • Word to Text extracts plain text from DOCX in your browser. Word to PDF and Word to Image use Secure Cloud processing and accept DOCX only; legacy .doc is not accepted. PDF to Word uses existing native PDF text and has no OCR or cloud fallback.
  • Fill PDF adds flattened text, date, checkbox and simple-mark overlays; it does not detect or fill native AcroForm or XFA fields.
  • Visual Sign adds typed, drawn or uploaded visual signature content as flattened page content. It is not a certificate-backed digital signature or e-sign workflow.
  • Malformed PDFs, unsupported input formats and inputs outside current tool-specific limits may be rejected instead of being processed.
  • Review the downloaded result before sharing it, especially when page order, overlays, numbering, watermarks or visual signatures matter.

Scope

  • Processing is tool-specific. Most tools process supported files in your browser; Word to Image, Word to PDF and OCR PDF disclose temporary Secure Cloud upload before selection. Browser-direct HTTPS URL intake remains a separate CORS-direct browser flow.
  • Browser-local processing does not guarantee universal safety, accuracy, anonymity, malware protection, confidentiality, legal suitability, regulatory compliance or certification.
  • This page describes current product behavior only; it does not expand a tool's supported formats, processing method or security guarantees.
