What this tool does
PDF Metadata runs locally in your browser so you can prepare, preview and export the supported result without a server upload.
It edits common document properties such as title and author; visible page content is not changed.
How to use it
- Choose the supported input file or files from your device.
- Review the preview and adjust the available output options.
- Run PDF Metadata, review the result and download it when it is ready.
Limits and fidelity
- Support depends on browser capabilities and the source file format.
- Very large or complex files can be limited by available device memory and processing speed.
- Password-protected PDFs are not supported when a PDF is the input.
Privacy
Supported processing happens in your browser. Selected file bytes are not sent to PDFandDOC servers.
Safety
Keep the original file and inspect the downloaded result before replacing an important document or asset.
About this workflow
PDF Metadata lets you inspect and update the supported document-property fields exposed by the workspace, such as a title when present. The tool writes those values into a new PDF without turning metadata into visible page text.
Metadata processing is browser-local. It is a document-property workflow, not a guarantee that every metadata namespace, embedded identifier or application-specific property is discovered or removed.
What to check before processing
Preview the currently parsed values before changing them and enter only metadata you actually want associated with the output. Emptying or changing a field can affect how compatible viewers display document properties.
If the goal is privacy cleanup, do not assume editing a few visible fields removes all possible metadata or hidden content. Use a workflow specifically designed and verified for that requirement.
What to expect from the result
The result is a new PDF containing the supported updated properties and the original page content. The result state lets you download the rewritten document and verify it again with a viewer or metadata inspector.
Different PDF readers can expose different property sets, so check the output in the environment that matters to your workflow.
Common uses
- Correct a document title before archiving or sharing.
- Update supported descriptive properties on a generated report.
- Create a copy with intentionally reviewed basic metadata values.
Tips for a better result
- Record the original values if you may need to restore them later.
- Treat metadata editing and metadata removal as different tasks.
- Verify important properties in the recipient's PDF viewer.
Frequently asked questions
- Does this remove all hidden information from a PDF?
- No. It edits the supported metadata fields and does not claim to sanitize every hidden object or metadata namespace.
- Does changing metadata alter visible pages?
- The metadata workflow targets document properties rather than intentionally changing visible page content.
