About this workflow
Add page numbers writes visible numbers onto a generated copy of the PDF. You can configure the supported position, source start page, starting number, font size and margin rather than being limited to numbering from the first page with the value one.
The operation runs locally in the browser. It adds page-number text to the PDF; it does not change any printed page numbers that already exist in the source.
What to check before processing
Choose where numbering should begin in the source and what number that page should display. This is useful when covers or front matter should remain unnumbered or when a document continues an existing numbering sequence.
Use the preview to keep the selected position and margin away from existing headers, footers and crop edges. Invalid settings that would place numbers outside the page are rejected.
What to expect from the result
The result is a new PDF with page-number text added from the configured start page through the remaining pages. The result reports the generated file and available metadata for review.
Page numbering is visual output; it does not promise to rewrite bookmarks, table-of-contents references or other internal navigation that may contain its own page labels.
Common uses
- Number a report after a cover page.
- Continue numbering for an appendix or scanned packet.
- Add simple footer or header page numbers before sharing a PDF.
Tips for a better result
- Check the first numbered page and the final page before download.
- Choose a margin that stays clear of existing page content.
- Remember that source page position and displayed page number can intentionally differ.
Frequently asked questions
- Can numbering start after the first PDF page?
- Yes. The workspace provides a source start-page option and a separate starting-number value.
- Does this update PDF bookmarks or a table of contents?
- No. The tool adds visible page-number text and does not claim to rewrite document navigation structures.
