These guides help you choose a workflow before you start editing or converting an important document. Use the merge and split/extract guides when the main question is how pages should be combined or separated. Use the fill-and-sign and signature-type guides when you need to distinguish a visible signature placed on a page from a certificate-backed signing workflow. The safety guide explains how browser-local processing differs from temporary Secure Cloud processing and what that distinction does and does not prove. The scanned-versus-searchable guide helps identify whether a PDF already contains usable text or needs OCR, while the PDF-versus-DOC-versus-DOCX guide explains why conversions between page-oriented and editable document formats can change layout or structure. Each guide links back to the relevant current tools and trust pages so you can verify processing location, limits and output expectations before working with a file. Reading a guide does not upload or process a document, and the guides do not create capabilities that the linked tools do not provide.
Current scope
- The hub lists only the seven currently reviewed public PDF guides
- The PDF vs DOC vs DOCX guide is format education only; Word to Image and Word to PDF processing lives on separate Secure Cloud DOCX-only tool routes rather than inside this guide
- Image to Word provides browser-local OCR for supported images; PDF to Text still extracts only an existing PDF text layer, while OCR PDF / Make Searchable PDF is a separate Secure Cloud workflow
- PDFandDOC Visual Sign is not a certificate-backed digital signature or e-sign workflow
- Guides describe current product behavior and common document concepts; they do not guarantee that every PDF, browser, font, form, signature requirement or third-party viewer will behave identically
- Processing location is tool-specific: most current tools process supported file bytes in the browser, while Word to Image, Word to PDF and OCR PDF use temporary Secure Cloud processing
- Encrypted or password-protected PDFs remain unsupported by the current PDF workflows; the guides do not add password prompts, decryption or permission-bypass features
- For important documents, keep the original and review the generated result before sharing it; educational guidance does not replace your own legal, organizational, records-management or accessibility requirements
This Guides hub is educational navigation and does not inspect, upload or process a document. Processing location is determined by the tool you choose after reading: most current tools process supported files in the browser, while Word to Image, Word to PDF and OCR PDF disclose temporary Secure Cloud processing on their own pages. Opening or reading a guide does not start either workflow.
